ABOUT RICK

My Roots
I'm Rick Maneval—your neighbor and a lifelong Texan, husband to Sara, dad to John, and someone who’s blessed to call Fate home. I’ve lived the kind of life most in our community know well: working hard, raising a family, and contributing to make our community better. I spent 30+ years at the Dallas Morning News, crunching numbers with my accounting and financial planning team until I hung up my hat in 2021. That job taught me how to manage money conservatively—skills I’ll bring to City Council to keep Fate’s budget lean and smart.
My roots run deep in Texas, and so does my faith. Sara and I have been part of Christ Church Rockwall for years, where I’ve led a small home group and served on the Vestry. I helped our church buy land, raise funds, and build a place we’re proud of—all while keeping an eye on every penny. That’s the kind of hands-on work I love, and it’s what I’ll do for Fate.
I’m running to represent you, because I believe our small town of more than 25,000 deserves a council that listens, is transparent, stretches our tax dollars, while keeping Fate prosperous and safe without breaking the bank. I’m not here for politics as usual—I’m here to be your voice, plain and simple. Fate’s a special place, and with your vote, I’d be honored to help lead it in the right direction for all of us.
“Rick has been a vital and active member of our church, serving regularly in numerous ministries over the years. Always welcoming to both members and visitors, Rick displays a warmth and generosity of spirit that is truly rare and exceptional. With wisdom and thoughtful counsel, he has been an indispensable leader in our fellowship, especially as it relates to matters of finance and governance. Above all, Rick is a loving and devoted husband, father and friend, who seeks to glorify God in all things.”
The Rev. Dr. Christopher A. Richardson, PhD
Rector – Christ Church Rockwall

MISSION STATEMENT

Serving Fate with
Common Sense and Commitment
My mission is simple: to make Fate a stronger, safer, and more affordable place for all of us who call it home. I’ll bring 30+ years of financial know-how to City Council to keep our budget tight, our taxes low, and our spending crystal clear for every taxpayer to see. I’m here to ensure our Police and Fire departments have what they need—without piling on debt we don’t need—because public safety shouldn’t come with a blank check. Above all, I’ll fight for a government that’s open, accountable, and focused on what matters most to our families. Fate deserves practical leadership rooted in conservative Texas values, and that’s exactly what I’ll deliver.

Why Rick?
Strength in Experience
Rick Maneval will bring a unique blend of financial know-how and community dedication to Fate City Council. His decades at the Dallas Morning News as a Senior Financial Analyst taught him how to manage budgets with precision, giving him the skills to tackle Fate’s challenges with a steady hand and a clear focus on what’s best for our city.
Key Issues
Rick’s Vision for Fate
Rick Maneval is committed to three core principles for Fate’s future:

Transparency
and Openness
Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is spent. Rick will push for budget and spending details to be clear and accessible. Council agendas should plainly state what’s being discussed—no surprises, no vague wording—just honest, open governance

Fiscal
Responsibility
With 30+ years of financial expertise, Rick knows how to trim fat from budgets while protecting what matters. He’ll demand city staff present spending plans that council members and citizens can easily understand, minimizing expenses to keep your taxes low without sacrificing services

Responsible Development
Growth should enhance our community, not burden it. I’ll push for responsible development that prioritizes infrastructure, avoids overcrowding, and ensures Fate retains its small-town charm while planning for the future.

Public
Safety
As Fate grows, our Police and Fire departments must keep pace. Rick supports fully staffing these vital services but believes we can do it smarter. He’ll work to review the $20 million Public Safety Bond, minimizing debt and avoiding unnecessary future tax hikes by addressing critical needs without overspending
